(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, NY – A routine traffic stop resulted in the arrest of two individuals on drug possession charges Saturday evening.

According to the Jamestown Police Department, officers conducted a traffic stop at East 8th Street and North Main Street at approximately 6:44 p.m. after observing multiple traffic violations. The vehicle was occupied by 37-year-old Hector Carrillo-Santos and 43-year-old Brenda L. Carrillo.

During the investigation, officers discovered that Carrillo-Santos was in possession of fentanyl and was operating the vehicle with a suspended license. Additionally, Carrillo was found in possession of methamphetamine pills.

Carrillo-Santos was charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 2nd Degree, and multiple traffic violations, including passing a red light and illegal window tints. Carrillo also faces Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree.

Both individuals were taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jamestown City Jail. Due to New York State bail reform laws, they were released on appearance tickets and are scheduled to appear in Jamestown City Court at a later date.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
