(WNY News Now) – HANOVER, NY – A West Seneca man was arrested for driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle accident in the Town of Hanover on Sunday evening.

According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a reported crash at approximately 7:03 p.m. on February 16, 2025, at the intersection of Route 5 & 20. Upon investigation, deputies identified the driver as 52-year-old Daniel R. Shagott.

Authorities determined that Shagott was operating his vehicle while intoxicated. He was taken to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Hanover Substation for processing and was subsequently charged with DWI, DWI .08 or higher, following too closely, unsafe tire, and no/inadequate lights.

Shagott was released with appearance tickets and is scheduled to appear in Town of Hanover Court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
