(WNY News Now) – NIAGARA COUNTY, N.Y. – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Buffalo has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for northern Niagara County, effective until 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 19.

The advisory warns of lake effect snow and blowing snow, with accumulations of 5 to 10 inches expected in the most persistent bands. Wind gusts between 40 and 50 mph may lead to blowing and drifting snow, reducing visibility and making travel hazardous.

Motorists should anticipate difficult travel conditions, particularly during the Monday evening and Tuesday morning commutes. Strong winds may also bring down tree branches, causing isolated power outages.

Drivers are urged to exercise caution and be prepared for rapidly changing road conditions. The NWS advises residents to monitor updates and submit snow reports via social media or the NWS website.
