(WNY News Now) – LITTLE VALLEY, NY – The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Salamanca woman on felony welfare fraud charges following an investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau.

Jordyn B. Wheeler, 24, was charged on February 17, 2025 with Grand Larceny in the Third Degree (D Felony), Welfare Fraud in the Third Degree (D Felony), and Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the First Degree (E Felony). Authorities allege Wheeler concealed income and misrepresented household composition to unlawfully receive $3,051 in SNAP (food stamp) benefits.

The investigation stemmed from a November 2024 complaint filed by the Cattaraugus County Department of Social Services (DSS). The DSS Program Integrity Unit assisted in the case.

Wheeler was taken into custody at the Cattaraugus County Department of Social Services in Olean without incident. She was processed and released with an appearance ticket.

She is scheduled to appear in City of Olean Court on March 18, 2025, at 9:30 AM. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
