(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, N.Y. – A Jamestown man was taken into custody on multiple charges following a warrant check at a southside residence on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Jamestown Police Department, officers conducted a warrant check at approximately 2:02 p.m. on February 18, 2025, as part of a GIVE (Gun Involved Violence Elimination) detail. The subject, identified as Marcus L. Carlson, 38, was found at the residence and informed of an outstanding bench warrant.

Police say Carlson attempted to retreat into his apartment while attempting to conceal an item and disregarding officers’ commands. After a brief struggle, he was taken into custody without further incident. Officers later determined that Carlson had attempted to hide a quantity of methamphetamine.

Carlson was transported to the Jamestown City Jail, where he is being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. He faces charges of:

  • Outstanding Bench Warrant
  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree
  • Tampering with Physical Evidence
  • Resisting Arrest

As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
