(WNY News Now) – BUFFALO, N.Y. — A Jamestown man has been sentenced to seven years in federal prison for his role in a drug trafficking operation.

Kyle Lewis, 33, was convicted of narcotics conspiracy and sentenced by U.S. District Judge Lawrence J. Vilardo to serve 84 months behind bars, Acting U.S. Attorney Joel L. Violanti announced.

Prosecutors said Lewis distributed heroin and fentanyl, receiving the drugs from co-defendants Holly Berenguer, Richard Philbrick, and Joseph Zaso. Authorities reported that Lewis used electronic platforms, including Facebook and CashApp, to facilitate sales. Law enforcement conducted five controlled purchases from Lewis between March and July 2022.

His co-defendants have also been convicted and are awaiting sentencing.

The case was part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) operation, which aims to dismantle high-level criminal organizations through a multi-agency approach.

The investigation was led by the Jamestown Police Department, the Drug Enforcement Administration’s New York Field Division, and the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office.
