Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office arrests Bradford woman on drug possession charges following overdose investigation
(WNY News Now) – CARROLLTON, NY — Cheray L. Matera, 23, of Bradford, PA, was arrested on February 20, 2025, following a narcotics investigation into a reported overdose at the Sassy Truck Stop in the Town of Carrollton. Matera faces charges of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree and Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia. She was released on an Appearance Ticket and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Carrollton Court at a later date.
At approximately 3:10 AM, deputies responded to the scene where they were investigating an overdose involving another individual. During the investigation, it was determined that Matera had left the scene and entered a public bathroom at the truck stop.
The Sheriff’s Office deployed K9 Lex to assist with the investigation, and the dog indicated a narcotic odor in a toilet paper dispenser in the bathroom. A subsequent search revealed a white powdery substance believed to be Fentanyl, along with burnt tinfoil and drug paraphernalia, all of which were seized by deputies.
Matera was arrested on the charges and will face legal proceedings in the Town of Carrollton Court.
