(WNY News Now) – BUFFALO, N.Y. — The National Weather Service (NWS) in Buffalo has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Northern Erie and Genesee Counties, effective until 10 a.m. EST today due to lake effect snow.

According to the advisory, additional snow accumulations of up to one inch are expected in areas experiencing persistent lake effect snowfall. Motorists should anticipate slippery, snow-covered roads, potentially affecting the Friday morning commute.

Residents are urged to exercise caution when traveling, slow down, and allow extra time to reach their destinations. Those heading outdoors should be mindful of icy sidewalks, stairs, and driveways, which could increase the risk of falls and injuries.
