(WNY News Now) – DUNKIRK, N.Y. — The Dunkirk Fire Department responded to a carbon monoxide incident at Refresco, located at 1 Cliffstar Ave., on Monday, February 24, 2025, at approximately 2:19 p.m.
Fire crews were dispatched after reports of two individuals possibly suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning. Upon arrival, responders detected elevated carbon monoxide levels within an enclosed space inside the facility.
As a precaution, the surrounding area was evacuated while firefighters used multiple fans to ventilate the affected space. Ventilation efforts continued for about two hours before the scene was deemed safe. One individual was transported to the hospital by ALSTAR EMS for further evaluation.
