(WNY News Now) – ELLICOTT, NY (February 26, 2025) — A 27-year-old man from Columbus, Ohio, was arrested early Tuesday morning after a traffic stop on Fairmount Avenue revealed multiple violations, including driving while intoxicated.

Around 12:18 a.m., deputies with the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation in the Town of Ellicott. The driver, identified as Michael A. Wilson Jr., was found to be operating the vehicle without a valid license. Upon further investigation, deputies determined Wilson was also driving while intoxicated.

Wilson was arrested and charged with speeding in a zone, operating without a license, driving while intoxicated (DWI), and driving while intoxicated per se (DWI Per Se), a charge related to having a blood alcohol content over the legal limit.

Following his arrest, Wilson was issued traffic tickets and released with a future court date set for the Town of Ellicott. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
