(WNY News Now) – Buffalo, NY – A Buffalo man has been found guilty of all charges in connection to a fatal shooting that occurred last year in the city’s Allentown neighborhood.

Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane announced that a jury convicted 29-year-old Nigel L. Flint of Amherst on one count of Murder in the Second Degree and one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree. The jury’s decision came after a five-day trial and approximately six hours of deliberation. Flint was convicted on all counts in the indictment.
The shooting took place in the early hours of September 16, 2023. At approximately 4:00 a.m., Flint intentionally shot 28-year-old Darnell J. Lynch, Jr. on the 200 block of Allen Street. Lynch was pronounced dead at the scene. Buffalo Police officers, who were investigating a nearby area, saw a vehicle traveling the wrong way on Mariner Street shortly after the shooting. Upon searching the vehicle, officers discovered a loaded, illegal handgun at Flint’s feet. Ballistics testing confirmed that this weapon was used in Lynch’s murder. Surveillance footage also captured Flint fleeing the scene of the crime.
Flint was apprehended in Detroit, Michigan on January 29, 2024, after being located through a warrant. He waived extradition and was brought back to Western New York in February to face prosecution. Flint has been held without bail since his return.
The conviction carries a potential sentence of 25 years to life in prison. Flint is scheduled for sentencing before State Supreme Court Justice Debra Givens on April 1, 2025, at 9:30 a.m.
District Attorney Keane commended the diligent work of the Buffalo Police Department, including Detective Scott Malec and Detective Mark White, as well as the Erie County Crime Analysis Center and the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force for their efforts in bringing Flint to justice.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Christopher S. Safulko and Briana R.D. Kalman.
