(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, NY – A Jamestown man was taken into custody early Friday morning after police responded to a domestic incident on the city’s East Side.

According to the Jamestown Police Department, officers from the 3rd Platoon responded to a residence at approximately 6:27 a.m. on February 28, 2025. Upon arrival, officers determined that Angel Carmona Santiago, 53, had violated an order of protection and assaulted the victim.

Investigators say Santiago choked the victim until she lost consciousness, struck her in the head with a mop, and threatened her with a knife. He also allegedly prevented the victim from leaving the residence.

When officers attempted to place Santiago under arrest, he resisted before being subdued and taken into custody. He was transported to the Jamestown City Jail and is being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court.

Santiago is facing multiple charges, including Strangulation in the Second Degree, Assault in the Second Degree, Unlawful Imprisonment in the Second Degree, Menacing in the Second Degree, Aggravated Criminal Contempt, and Resisting Arrest.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
