(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, N.Y. – A Jamestown man was taken into custody Friday morning after attempting to flee officers conducting a street check in the area of Newland Avenue and Forest Avenue.

According to the Jamestown Police Department, officers from the first platoon encountered Tyler A. Perez, 41, at approximately 11:06 a.m. on February 28, 2025. Officers were aware that Perez had an active bench warrant issued by the Jamestown City Court.

As officers exited their patrol vehicle to approach Perez, he fled on foot. Following a brief pursuit, Perez surrendered and was taken into custody without further incident. He was transported to the Jamestown City Jail, where he is being held pending arraignment on his outstanding warrant, along with an additional charge of resisting arrest.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
