(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — A routine traffic stop early Friday morning led to the arrest of a Lakeview man on drug possession charges.

At approximately 2:58 a.m. on February 28, officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s 3rd Platoon conducted a vehicle stop near Cherry Street and West 7th Street for multiple traffic infractions.

During the investigation, officers discovered that the driver, identified as 28-year-old Daniel R. Dickey, was in possession of cocaine. Further checks revealed that Dickey was operating the vehicle with a suspended New York State driver’s license.

Dickey was taken into custody without incident and transported to the city jail. He was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree and various traffic violations.

Dickey was released with an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Jamestown City Court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
