(WNY News Now) – Jason L. Kelley, 44, of Otto, NY, was arrested for falsely reporting a shooting incident after an investigation by the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office.
On March 5, 2025, Jason L. Kelley, 44, of Otto, NY, was arrested for falsely reporting a shooting incident that had allegedly occurred on Swamp Road in the Town of Otto on February 27, 2025. The arrest followed an investigation conducted by the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies had initially responded to the reported shooting on February 27, 2025, at an address on North Otto Road. After an extensive investigation, authorities determined the claims were unsubstantiated, leading to the charge of Falsely Reporting an Incident in the Third Degree against Kelley.
Kelley was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Otto Court at a later date. The Sheriff’s Office urges the public to report only truthful and substantiated information to help law enforcement focus resources on legitimate emergencies.
