(WNY News Now) – Jamestown police officers step up to support a local child battling cancer, donating $1,600 raised through their No Shave November initiative.
JAMESTOWN, NY – The Kendall Police Club, the Police Benevolent Association representing the City of Jamestown police officers, donated $1,600 to Jace Haas and his mother Chantel Swanson. Jace is battling T-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma, a type of aggressive non-Hodgkin lymphoma that originates from immature T-cells.
The money raised by the members was in conjunction with the annual No Shave November, a month-long event that encourages men to grow out their beards to raise awareness and funds for men’s health and cancer awareness.
The annual event held every November is sponsored by the American Cancer Fund in a partnership with the American Cancer Association.
“Helping families in need, especially those with a sick child facing a life-threatening disease is just one way our officers are building strong relationships and bonds with the people we serve in the community,” said Sam Piazza, President, Jamestown Kendall Club.
