(WNY News Now) – SHERIDAN, NY – A Dunkirk man was arrested for driving while intoxicated following a traffic stop in the Town of Sheridan early Friday morning.

According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, deputies pulled over a vehicle on Route 20 at approximately 1:05 a.m. on March 7 for a traffic infraction. The driver, identified as 33-year-old Luis M. Rivera-Torres, was suspected of being intoxicated.

Following an investigation, Rivera-Torres was taken into custody and charged with speeding, operating a vehicle without a license, having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, DWI common law, and DWI per se.

He was transported to the Sheriff’s Office substation in Pomfret for processing and later released with appearance tickets for Sheridan Town Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
