(WNY News Now) – NORTH HARMONY, NY — A 51-year-old man was arrested early Monday morning, March 10, 2025, on multiple charges including Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (AGDWI) after a traffic stop in the Town of North Harmony.
Around 6:34 a.m., Chautauqua County Sheriff’s deputies observed a vehicle violating traffic laws on Spooner Road. The driver, identified as Thomas Matjoulis of Open Meadows Road, was pulled over for further investigation.
After speaking with Matjoulis, deputies suspected that he was under the influence of alcohol. A subsequent investigation confirmed the driver was operating the vehicle while intoxicated, with a blood alcohol content (BAC) of 0.18%, which is more than double the legal limit for DWI.
Matjoulis was taken into custody and later released with tickets for Speed in Zone, Driving While Intoxicated, and Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of North Harmony Court at a later date to face the charges.
As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
