(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — A routine traffic stop in Jamestown led to the arrest of a local woman on drug possession charges Sunday night.

According to the Jamestown Police Department, officers conducted a traffic stop at approximately 8:48 p.m. on March 9 near Washington Street and West 13th Street due to observed traffic infractions. During the investigation, the driver, identified as Kimberley R. Mazzone, was found to be in possession of a small quantity of fentanyl.

Mazzone was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jamestown City Jail. She was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree and later released on an appearance ticket. She is scheduled to appear in Jamestown City Court at a later date.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
