(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, NY – The Jamestown Police Department is actively investigating the homicide of 44-year-old Jerad M. Davis, who was found deceased at an apartment on Buffalo Street on May 2, 2024. Initially reported as a suspected overdose, further investigation has determined that Davis’s death resulted from a violent assault.
Police responded to the scene at 442 Buffalo Street on the morning of May 2, 2024, after a call about a possible overdose. The Jamestown Police, along with the Jamestown Fire Department, began an immediate response. Collaborating with the Chautauqua County Coroner’s Office, the Erie County Medical Examiner’s Office, and the Chautauqua County District Attorney’s Office, authorities discovered that Davis had suffered fatal injuries consistent with a homicide, not an overdose as originally believed.
Investigation Ongoing, Person of Interest Identified
While the investigation is still in its early stages, Jamestown Police have identified a person of interest and are gathering additional witness statements. Investigators are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who had contact with Davis between March 1, 2024, and May 2, 2024, or who was inside the apartment at 442 Buffalo Street during that period.
