(WNY News Now) – POLAND, NY – A Kennedy man faces multiple charges following an altercation in the Town of Poland this morning.

According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and New York State Police responded to a disturbance on Dogwood Street at approximately 11:55 a.m. on March 17.

Following an investigation, authorities allege that Scott A. Martin, 30, of Kennedy, NY, engaged in unwanted physical contact with another individual, attempted to forcibly touch another person, and prevented someone from calling emergency services. These actions reportedly took place in the presence of children.

Upon law enforcement’s arrival, Martin allegedly obstructed governmental administration and resisted arrest. He was taken into custody and charged with:

  • Criminal Contempt in the First Degree
  • Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree
  • Endangering the Welfare of a Child (two counts)
  • Attempted Forcible Touching
  • Harassment in the Second Degree
  • Obstruction of Governmental Administration in the Second Degree
  • Resisting Arrest

Martin was transported to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office for processing before being remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail for Centralized Arraignment Processing (CAP). As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
