(WNY News Now) – SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse Police responded to a shots fired incident on Thursday, March 27, around 1:13 p.m. in the 100 block of Weiser Court. Upon arrival, officers determined that a suspect had discharged a firearm inside a residence before fleeing the scene.
Investigators tracked the suspect to the 100 block of Amherst Avenue, where officers witnessed the individual inflict a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Authorities confirmed that no officers discharged their weapons during the incident.
The suspect was transported to Upstate University Hospital and remains in critical condition. The Syracuse Police Department continues to investigate and urges anyone with information to contact the Criminal Investigations Division at (315) 442-5222.
