(WNY News Now) – A 30-year-old Jamestown man was arrested on multiple charges, including felony drug possession, after a brief foot pursuit on the city’s west side on April 4, 2025.
On April 4, 2025, at approximately 7:01 p.m., officers from the Jamestown Police Department were conducting routine patrols on the west side of Jamestown when they observed a man identified as Steven D. Schrecengost, a 30-year-old local resident.
Upon checking his information, officers discovered that Schrecengost had an active warrant for failing to appear in Jamestown City Court. When officers attempted to arrest him, Schrecengost fled the scene, leading police on a short foot chase.
The pursuit ended after a brief struggle, and Schrecengost was apprehended without further incident. During the arrest, officers recovered 28.0 grams of methamphetamine, along with drug paraphernalia including packaging materials and digital scales.
Schrecengost was transported to the Jamestown City Jail, where he is currently being held pending arraignment. He faces multiple charges, including Resisting Arrest, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree (Felony), and Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the 2nd Degree.
As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
