(WNY News Now) – Police arrested a 51-year-old Bemus Point resident after he was found passed out behind the wheel on Glasgow Avenue in Jamestown.

Jamestown, N.Y. – On Saturday, April 5, 2025, at approximately 7:36 a.m., officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s first platoon discovered a vehicle parked improperly at the intersection of Glasgow Avenue and Barrett Avenue. The vehicle was positioned on the wrong side of the road and facing the wrong direction.

Upon approaching the vehicle, officers observed the driver unconscious behind the wheel. After waking the individual and conducting an initial investigation, police identified the driver as Jeremy A. Shepherd, 51, of Bemus Point, New York.

According to authorities, Shepherd admitted to using a controlled narcotic prior to being found in the vehicle. Officers conducted a series of field sobriety tests, after which they determined that Shepherd was operating the vehicle while his ability was impaired by drugs.

Shepherd was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jamestown City Jail. He was charged under New York Vehicle and Traffic Law section 1192(4) for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs.

Shepherd is currently being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
