(WNY News Now) – A 35-year-old Jamestown resident was arrested early this morning for driving while intoxicated (DWI), marking his third DWI arrest in less than three months.

JAMESTOWN, NY – At approximately 3:24 a.m. on April 8, officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s Third Platoon conducted a traffic stop on the south side of the city after observing a violation of traffic laws. Following the stop, an investigation revealed that the driver, Darryl D. Cavness, was operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

Further investigation also revealed that Cavness’s driver’s license had been previously revoked due to prior DWI offenses. This led to additional charges of aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the first degree, a felony charge. Cavness was also charged with circumventing an ignition interlock device and consuming alcohol in a motor vehicle.

Cavness was taken into custody and transported to the Jamestown City Jail, where he is being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
