(WNY News Now) – A federal grand jury has indicted an Olean man in connection with a long-running heroin and fentanyl distribution conspiracy operating in the Jamestown area.

BUFFALO, N.Y. – U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo announced that Chauncy J. Robinson, also known as “Cbear,” 39, of Olean, has been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of narcotics conspiracy. The charge carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison and a maximum of life.

According to Assistant U.S. Attorneys Joshua A. Violanti and Louis A. Testani, Robinson is accused of conspiring with Joseph S. Zaso and others to distribute heroin and fentanyl between 2018 and May 26, 2022, primarily in the Jamestown area.

The indictment lists several co-defendants, including Andres Pizzaro Campos, Max Pizzaro Campos, Cindy Frank, Edward Leeper, Jaquez L. Thomas, Latika S. Saintkitts, and Joseph Thayer. Zaso was previously convicted in connection with the case and is currently awaiting sentencing.

Robinson was arraigned before U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael J. Roemer and is being held in custody.

The investigation is part of Operation Take Back America, a Department of Justice initiative aimed at dismantling drug trafficking organizations and reducing violent crime. The operation integrates efforts from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) and Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN).

Multiple agencies contributed to the investigation, including the Jamestown Police Department, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) New York Field Division, and the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
