(WNY News Now) – A routine traffic stop in Jamestown early Friday morning led to the arrest of two individuals on DWI charges.
JAMESTOWN – On April 11, 2025, at approximately 2:10 a.m., officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s 3rd Platoon initiated a traffic stop on Forest Avenue near Terrace Place for a traffic violation.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as 30-year-old Ellen M. Mesler, was found to be operating the vehicle while intoxicated. Officers determined that Mesler was in violation of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and DWI Per Se.
During the course of the investigation, a second individual, 38-year-old Timothy M. Cornelius, who was driving a separate vehicle ahead of Mesler, reportedly began interfering with the traffic stop. Officers discovered that Cornelius was also intoxicated and had been operating his vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
Both Mesler and Cornelius were taken into custody and transported to the Jamestown City Jail. Mesler was charged with Aggravated DWI and DWI Per Se. Cornelius was charged with DWI and DWI Per Se.
The two individuals were released with appearance tickets and are scheduled to appear in Jamestown City Court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
