(WNY News Now) – Marcus McDonald, aka 4Fourteen, is a local musical artist who is set to release his debut EP/Album on Saturday, April 19, 2025.
Jamestown, N.Y. – WNY News Now recently conducted an interview with Marcus McDonald, aka 4Fourteen, a local artist making his debut into the music industry. He is set to release his first major project, an EP/Album titled “Live to Learn”, on Saturday, April 19, 2025.
Marcus’ foray into the music industry has been in the making for a few years now. He determined that if he truly wanted to succeed, he needed to first learn the ins and outs of the music industry and how it functions, especially financially. He then spent over a year writing and recording the songs featured on the project, some of which date back even earlier.
While Marcus initially planned to only produce 50 CDs, they sold out within 24 hours, resulting in the decision to produce 100 CDs instead. All of the physical copies have been sold, but the project will become available on major streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music on Saturday, April 19.
The project, consisting of 6 tracks and coming in at a runtime of 17 minutes, is categorized as Hip-Hop/Rap, but Marcus noted that it has more of an Indie sound to it, considering it calming and inspirational.
Additionally, three of the tracks have features from other artists. The first feature, 3 Days After on the second track, “Foggy Roads”, was Marcus’ sound engineer, who worked on 5 of the 6 tracks on the project. The fourth track, “Autumn Latte”, features ANF RXSE, an artist whom Marcus describes as like a big brother to him who was the reason behind him choosing his own artist name of 4Fourteen. The final feature, on the fifth track, “Better Days”, is Buffalo artist Vocero Omar, who performs the hook. All of the beats used for the project were produced by Vincent Shackelford, aka Lyrical Productions.
Marcus has social media accounts on Instagram, TikTok, and X (formerly known as Twitter), but he is most active on Facebook, which he uses to engage with his audience.
Above all, Marcus’ aim with his music is to provide listeners with a sense of relatability and authenticity. He is grateful to the everyday, average people who listen to his music and wishes to let them know that they are not alone in whatever struggles they may have in life.
