(WNY News Now) – A Salamanca man is facing multiple charges after allegedly using physical force against deputies during an attempted arrest for a parole violation.

The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office has reported the arrest of Brian M. Johnson, 38, of Salamanca, NY, following an incident on April 15, 2025, at approximately 11:27 a.m.

Deputies attempted to take Johnson into custody on a parole violation warrant. During the arrest, Johnson allegedly resisted and used physical force, resulting in multiple injuries to the deputies involved.

As a result of the incident, Johnson was charged with two counts of Assault in the Second Degree, Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree, Resisting Arrest, and Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree.

Johnson was issued an appearance ticket for the charges and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date. He was then transported to the Cattaraugus County Jail, where he is being held pending future parole hearings.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
