(WNY News Now) – The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a Dense Fog Advisory for parts of Western New York, warning of significantly reduced visibility through Friday evening.
BUFFALO, NY – A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect for Erie and Chautauqua counties until 8:00 PM EDT today, April 19, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Buffalo.
Visibility is expected to drop to as low as one-quarter mile in dense fog, particularly along the immediate Lake Erie shoreline. This includes areas along Interstate 90 from Ripley to Buffalo, as well as downtown Buffalo.
The NWS warns that the low visibility may lead to hazardous driving conditions throughout the afternoon and early evening hours. Motorists are advised to reduce speed, use headlights, and maintain extra distance between vehicles while driving.
