(WNY News Now) – The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for Chautauqua County from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, April 21.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Buffalo has issued a Wind Advisory for Chautauqua County, warning residents to expect strong south to southeast winds throughout the morning and early afternoon on Monday, April 21.

According to the advisory, sustained winds of 20 to 30 miles per hour are expected, with gusts reaching up to 50 miles per hour. The strongest winds are forecasted along the Lake Erie shoreline, particularly northwest of the Chautauqua Ridge.

The advisory went into effect at 6 a.m. and will remain in place until 2 p.m. today. The NWS warns that gusty winds may blow around unsecured objects, and tree limbs could be knocked down, potentially leading to isolated power outages. Drivers of high-profile vehicles, especially those traveling on the New York State Thruway, should use caution due to gusty crosswinds.

Residents are advised to secure outdoor objects and exercise extra caution while driving. High-profile vehicles such as trucks, vans, and RVs are especially susceptible to strong gusts.
