(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, N.Y. – A 40-year-old Jamestown resident is facing a petit larceny charge following a reported shoplifting incident at a local Dollar General.

On Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at approximately 5:35 p.m., officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s 2nd Platoon responded to a shoplifting complaint at the Dollar General located at 226 Winsor Street. Store staff informed officers that a man had just stolen merchandise and fled the scene.

Police canvassed the area and located the suspect, later identified as Joseph A. Snyder, a few blocks from the store. An on-scene investigation determined Snyder had stolen items valued at $34.45.

Snyder was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jamestown City Jail. He has been charged with petit larceny and is being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
