(WNY News Now) – SYRACUSE, NY — A man has died following a shooting that occurred Wednesday afternoon at the intersection of South West Street and West Fayette Street in Syracuse.

According to the Syracuse Police Department, officers responded to a report of a shooting with injuries around 4:27 p.m. on April 23. Upon arrival, they discovered a man in his 30s with an apparent gunshot wound to the head. He was transported to Upstate University Hospital in critical condition.

Authorities have now confirmed that the victim, a male in his 60s, later succumbed to his injuries.

Police detained one individual in connection with the incident shortly after it occurred. As of now, no additional arrests have been reported, and the investigation remains active.
