(WNY News Now) – A routine DWI patrol in Fredonia led to the arrest of a Dunkirk woman for multiple traffic violations, including driving while intoxicated and resisting arrest.
FREDONIA, NY – On Friday, May 2, 2025, deputies from the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office arrested 70-year-old Linda A. Matyjakowski of Dunkirk, NY, following a traffic stop on Central Avenue in the Village of Fredonia.
At approximately 9:23 p.m., deputies were conducting a DWI enforcement detail when they observed a vehicle commit multiple traffic violations, including running a red light and failing to keep right. Deputies initiated a traffic stop and identified the driver as Matyjakowski.
An investigation at the scene determined that Matyjakowski was operating the vehicle while intoxicated. During the arrest, authorities reported that she resisted being taken into custody.
Matyjakowski was charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI), passing a red signal, failure to keep right, and resisting arrest. She was released with an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the Village of Fredonia Court at a later date.
As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
