(WNY News Now) – A Jamestown man was arrested Wednesday morning on the city’s east side following a warrant investigation that led to multiple felony drug charges.

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. – On May 14, 2025, at approximately 7:15 a.m., officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s First Platoon responded to a report of a disorderly male on the east side of the city.

Upon arrival, police identified the individual as 46-year-old Victor M. Melendez of Jamestown. A records check revealed Melendez had an outstanding bench warrant issued by Jamestown City Court. Following a brief standoff, officers took him into custody without incident.

During the course of the investigation, officers discovered Melendez in possession of a small quantity of narcotics and various items commonly associated with drug distribution. As a result, he was charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree, and Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree.

Melendez was transported to the Jamestown City Jail, where he is currently being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
