(WNY News Now) – A 19-year-old Buffalo resident faces a weapon possession charge following a traffic stop by Jamestown Police on the city’s east side.

On May 14, 2025, at approximately 10:46 a.m., officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s 1st Platoon conducted a vehicle stop near the Cameo Apartments on Jamestown’s east side. The stop was initiated after officers confirmed the vehicle’s driver had a suspended license.

During the traffic stop, officers identified Jeremy E. Thompson Jr., 19, of Buffalo, as a passenger in the vehicle. While investigating, police discovered Thompson was in possession of a switchblade knife.

Thompson was taken into custody without incident and transported to the city jail. He was later released with an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Jamestown City Court. He is charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
