(WNY News Now) – Walmart in Lakewood experienced an electrical fire on Saturday night, which resulted in a chain reaction that shut down the store’s cooler cases.

Lakewood, N.Y. – On Saturday, May 17, at approximately 7:15 p.m., one of the store’s cooler cases near the deli caught fire. The fire department and Sheriff’s office both responded to the scene to contain the blaze.

However, as a result of the fire, the electricity was seemingly tripped in the refrigeration, which caused a chain reaction that shut down all of the store’s coolers and freezers. Some sections, like the butter section, suffered complete product losses, while the store worked urgently to save what they could.

The frozen food section has had power restored, as well as the seafood section, while the store continues to work to restore the remaining cases.
