(WNY News Now) – Police arrested a Jamestown resident Saturday morning after she allegedly violated a court-issued Stay Away Order of Protection and resisted officers.

JAMESTOWN – On Saturday, May 17, 2025, at approximately 7:35 a.m., officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s 1st Platoon arrested Heather S. Ness, 40, of Jamestown, for violating an active Stay Away Order of Protection and resisting arrest.

The incident occurred in the area of Washington Street and West 6th Street on the city’s north side. Officers on routine patrol observed Ness approaching a residence associated with the protected individual.

Police, familiar with Ness and aware of the active protection order, made contact with her as she neared the property. According to authorities, Ness began walking away upon being approached. Officers attempted to detain her, at which point she reportedly resisted.

Ness was taken into custody and transported to the Jamestown City Jail, where she was charged with Criminal Contempt in the First Degree and Resisting Arrest. She is currently being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
