(WNY News Now) – On June 1, 2025, Raymond A. Gates Jr., 39, was arrested on Jamestown’s south side for criminal contempt.

At approximately 6:44 p.m. on June 1, officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s 2nd Platoon observed Raymond A. Gates Jr. walking on the city’s south side. Police were aware that Gates had an active warrant issued by Jamestown City Court. Officers took Gates into custody without incident.

During the encounter, officers identified a female with Gates who was named as the protected party in an existing order of protection. The order required Gates to maintain distance from her. Due to this violation, Gates was charged with Criminal Contempt in the 2nd Degree in addition to the outstanding warrant.

Gates was transported to the Jamestown City Jail and held pending arraignment before the Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
