(WNY News Now) – A coordinated narcotics investigation led to the seizure of over 150 grams of cocaine and firearms during a search warrant executed at a Dunkirk residence on June 5, resulting in the arrest of Daniel Melendez.

DUNKIRK, NY — On June 5, 2025, narcotics investigators from the Dunkirk Police Department, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, and Jamestown Police Department executed a search warrant at 430 Washington Avenue, Lower Apartment, Dunkirk. The operation involved the Dunkirk Police Special Response Team (SRT), who made entry into the residence at approximately 1:30 p.m.

Inside the apartment, authorities found and arrested 38-year-old Daniel Melendez of Dunkirk. Investigators seized 151.42 grams of cocaine, along with scales and packaging materials typically used for narcotics distribution. Additionally, a loaded 9mm handgun and two high-capacity magazines were confiscated.

Melendez faces multiple charges including Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 2nd and 3rd degrees, Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia in the 2nd degree, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd and 3rd degrees. Following his arrest, Melendez was transported to the Dunkirk Police Department and subsequently arraigned in Dunkirk City Court.
