(WNY News Now) – DUNKIRK, NY — A traffic stop in Dunkirk on June 2 resulted in the seizure of suspected narcotics and multiple charges against a Stockton man.

On June 2, 2025, at approximately 5:58 p.m., a Dunkirk Police officer conducted a vehicle and traffic stop near the intersection of Main Street and East 5th Street. The driver, identified as 25-year-old Nathaniel S. Steinhoff of Stockton, NY, was found to be operating the vehicle with a suspended license.

During the course of the investigation, officers discovered approximately 2.6 grams of suspected cocaine and multiple items of drug paraphernalia. As a result, Steinhoff was charged with:

  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree (PL 220.03)
  • Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the 2nd Degree (PL 220.50[2])
  • Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the 2nd Degree (VTL 511[2a3])

Steinhoff was released on appearance tickets and is scheduled to answer the charges in court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
