(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, N.Y. – A 35-year-old Jamestown man was taken into custody on Tuesday evening, June 17, after attempting to flee from law enforcement officers during a probation warrant check.

At approximately 8:17 p.m., officers from the Jamestown Police Department assisted Chautauqua County Probation Officers in executing a warrant for Kevin N. Young at a residence on the city’s south side. Upon arrival, Young attempted to evade arrest by fleeing out the back door of the home.

Officers pursued Young on foot for a short distance. He eventually surrendered and complied with commands. Young was arrested without further incident and transported to the Jamestown City Jail.

He is charged with Resisting Arrest and was held on the outstanding probation warrant. Young is scheduled to appear in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
