Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office stops vehicle for lane violation, driver charged with driving while intoxicated.
(WNY News Now) – ELLERY, N.Y. – A 64-year-old man from Lemoyne, Pennsylvania was arrested in the early hours of June 29 after a traffic stop on Interstate 86 in the Town of Ellery led to a DWI charge.
According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, deputies stopped a vehicle around 1:16 a.m. for allegedly moving unsafely from its lane. The driver, identified as William H. Spaulding, was evaluated and determined to be intoxicated.
Following further investigation, Spaulding was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated (VTL 1192.3), Driving While Intoxicated per se (VTL 1192.2), and Moving From Lane Unsafely (VTL 1128a).
Spaulding was released with tickets and is scheduled to appear in Ellery Town Court to face the charges. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
