Police: Suspect Violated Order of Protection, Assaulted Two, and Fled in Victim’s Car
(WNY News Now) – DUNKIRK, N.Y. — A 21-year-old Dunkirk man is facing multiple charges following a violent incident involving assault, harassment, and the unauthorized use of a motor vehicle on Thursday afternoon.
On June 26, 2025, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Dunkirk Police responded to a report of a fight near the intersection of Lake Shore Drive West and Middle Road. Officers arrived on scene and interviewed a female victim who reported that Dariel E. Ayala, of 82 Ruggles Street, had shoved her and thrown a beer bottle at her before fleeing in her vehicle.
Further investigation revealed there was an active order of protection in place between the victim and Ayala, which police say was violated during the encounter.
A second female victim was also injured in the incident and was transported to Brooks Hospital after allegedly being struck with a beer bottle by Ayala.
Officers located Ayala shortly afterward and took him into custody without further incident. He was charged with the following:
- Criminal Contempt in the 2nd Degree (Class A Misdemeanor)
- Harassment in the 2nd Degree (Violation)
- Assault in the 2nd Degree (Class D Felony)
- Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle in the 3rd Degree (Class A Misdemeanor)
Ayala was held for arraignment following his arrest. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
