(WNY News Now) – A Hanover resident is facing charges following a reported altercation on the evening of July 6, 2025.
The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office and New York State Police responded to a disturbance in the Town of Hanover on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at approximately 7:57 p.m.
Following an investigation, authorities arrested 44-year-old Joshua Sweda of Hanover. According to law enforcement, Sweda intentionally damaged another person’s property and attempted to initiate physical contact during the altercation.
Sweda was charged with Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree and Harassment in the Second Degree. He was released at the scene and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Hanover Court at a later date to face the charges. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
