Deputies say traffic stop on Route 219 led to impaired driving arrest and multiple charges

(WNY News Now) – ELLICOTTVILLE, N.Y. — A 33-year-old Springville man is facing multiple charges following a traffic stop on Route 219 in the Town of Ellicottville on the night of July 4, 2025.

According to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office, deputies stopped a vehicle driven by Andrew J. Usyk at approximately 10:20 p.m. after observing several traffic law violations. During the stop, deputies noted signs of impairment, prompting a further investigation.

Usyk was arrested and charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, Resisting Arrest, and Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree. He also faces several vehicle and traffic law violations, including Reckless Driving, Failure to Use Designated Lane, Failure to Keep Right, Operating Without or with Insufficient Tail Lamps, and Speeding in a 55 mph zone.

Usyk was processed and released with appearance tickets. He is scheduled to appear in Ellicottville Town Court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
