Police say suspect broke into home, assaulted victim in presence of toddler

(WNY News Now) – WESTFIELD, NY — A Westfield man is facing multiple charges following a reported fight that led to injuries and involved a child witness on the evening of July 10, 2025.

According to the Westfield Police Department, officers responded to a call at 5:53 p.m. regarding a physical altercation at 7561 Rt 20 Lot 12. Upon arrival and through investigation, it was determined that 24-year-old Levi A. Cross had unlawfully entered the residence through a window and initiated a violent confrontation with the male victim inside.

Authorities report that the victim sustained injuries to his head and was transported to Westfield Memorial Hospital for evaluation and treatment. During the incident, a 3-year-old child was reportedly present and witnessed the assault.

Levi Cross fled the scene prior to police arrival but was located a short time later by the New York State Police and taken into custody without incident.

Cross has been charged with Burglary in the 2nd Degree, Assault in the 3rd Degree, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. He was transported to the Chautauqua County Jail for arraignment through the Centralized Arraignment Program (CAP) and is expected to appear in Westfield Town Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
