Police apprehend suspect after larceny in progress on city’s north side

(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — A Jamestown man is in custody after police responded to a larceny in progress Monday morning on the city’s north side.

At approximately 9:21 a.m. on July 14, officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s 1st Platoon were dispatched to a residence following a report of an active theft. Upon arrival, officers quickly identified the suspect as 46-year-old Michael E. Wolfe, a Jamestown resident with known outstanding warrants.

Wolfe was located nearby and taken into custody without incident. Investigators determined that Wolfe had allegedly entered the residence unlawfully through a window and removed the victim’s wheelchair from the home. A search of Wolfe’s belongings revealed multiple burglar tools.

Wolfe is charged with Burglary in the 2nd Degree, Possession of Burglar Tools, and Petit Larceny. He is currently being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
