Officers respond to burglary in progress, apprehend two suspects at the scene

(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — Two Jamestown men were arrested on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, after police responded to a burglary in progress at a residence on the city’s north side.

At approximately 11:11 a.m., officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s first platoon arrived at the scene and observed a man exiting the residence. The individual was identified as 43-year-old Joseph Helms of Jamestown and was taken into custody without incident.

During a search of the property, officers located a second individual inside the residence, identified as 31-year-old Cody Reichenbach, also of Jamestown. Through further investigation, authorities determined that both Helms and Reichenbach had forced entry into the home and caused damage to the interior.

The suspects were transported to the Jamestown City Jail and held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court.

Helms and Reichenbach are facing multiple charges, including:

  • Burglary in the Third Degree
  • Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree
  • Possession of Burglar’s Tools
  • Criminal Tampering in the Third Degree

As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
