Police say suspect damaged property and resisted arrest during incident

(WNY News Now) – ELLICOTT, NY – Angel M. Batista Perez, 36, of Ellicott, was charged with criminal mischief in the fourth degree and resisting arrest following a domestic dispute reported on July 15, 2025, at approximately 5:05 p.m.

According to the Town of Ellicott Police Department, officers responded to a past-tense domestic dispute where Batista Perez allegedly damaged property belonging to the victim. Upon police contact, Batista Perez reportedly refused to cooperate with officers and resisted arrest.

He was taken into custody, issued an appearance ticket, and transported to the Chautauqua County Jail for centralized arraignment. Batista Perez is scheduled to appear in the Town of Ellicott Court at a later date to face the charges. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
